Damian Rae to pour at Crush Barrel Wine Market in San Francisco

Fort Mason Center, Herbst Pavilion

San Francisco, CA

Welcome!

How Damian Rae Winery came to be...

People often ask us how we got started in the wine business.  Actually, we got pulled along by a long tradition of winemaking dating back several generations.  John's family were - and still are - winemakers in Italy.  It was always made for personal consumption, and red table wine was the one and only "varietal."  The practice carried over here to America, and as a youngster, John remembers coloring his feet a deep purple during harvests.  In 2004, we met the folks at Crushpad, and specifically Kian Tavakoli, a former winemaker at the legendary Opus One.  He signed on to be our winemaker, and we were off to the races with the Damian Rae label.  At first we decided to make wine just for ourselves, but when our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon won the Double Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (the world's largest), we knew we were on to something and decided to share the wines commercially!  You can order our wines today by visiting our Wine Shop page.

And please join us at our upcoming tasting events!   There’s nothing more we enjoy than sharing our hand-crafted wines with friends, old and new.  Check out the “News and Events” column to the right for more information.

Thanks for your continuing support, and remember, whether you want a premium wine for that special romantic occasion, or to celebrate a new account, or simply to pair with tonight's main course, the ideal choice is a bottle from Damian Rae Winery -perfect for any occasion
